SYNOPSIS

Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black…

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He’s a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn’t care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn’t realize how much her father’s indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn’t one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it’s an absence of moments. She’s like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other… to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated… they’ve learned a priceless lesson.

Sometimes, before we fall… we fly.

My review of Courtney Cole’s upcoming release, Before We Fall: The Beautifully Broken Series: Book 3, is coming later. Kirsten was sweet enough to have hers ready, so you can see what you are in for with book three of this series. See what Kirsten thinks about it below…

KIRSTEN’S REVIEW

Courtney Cole’s third installment in her Beautifully Broken Series is seriously the best one yet. While I found this story to be a bit darker and certainly edgier than the two previous books, it made the read that much more exhilarating. Both of our main characters are dealing with tragic pasts, and the way that Ms. Cole puts them back together piece by piece is just stunning.

You will all remember Jacey from the other two books in this series. She is headstrong and certainly has many of her own demons to deal with. The thing about Ms. Cole is that she has the ability to write a strong heroine. While I know Jacey, in past books, has struggled with self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness, all stemming from a less than stellar childhood, she is here, months into therapy, trying to bring more stability to her life. I love the way she has grown and that Ms. Cole hasn’t made it some overnight quick fix. Jacey is fiercely loyal and super funny and can see the good in just about everything. She has a very easygoing personality, and she’s the type of girl you want to be friends with. Plus, she is my kind of girl because she loves a good surprise. Jacey has a heart of gold, and it is a trait I admire.

From the very first chapter, we realize that Dominic has a dark twisted, haunting past.

“I never talk about my past or anything at all about me, but a woman can still sense that I’m fucked up. What they don’t understand ….is that I’m unfixable.”

He seems to have closed himself off from the world, only choosing to have superficial relationships with everyone in his life. Being a famous actor, he is incredibly handsome and extremely arrogant yet beautifully broken. He has tons of fans and women falling at his feet, but nobody knows the real Dominic. We have no idea what has caused him to be so closed off, but I was determined to find out, and that is what had me reading this one non-stop. There are glimpses of what happened to Dom when he was younger throughout the story, and it is, no doubt, tragic. I am so enamored with him that I want him to realize that he deserves happiness. When Dom lets his guard down, he is swoon-worthy. He managed to hit all of my hot buttons with his alpha male possessiveness, protectiveness, fantastic sense of humor, arrogant and cocky attitude and yes okay by his kinkiness. I felt his struggles and wanted him to be able to overcome his tragic past.

“I love watching pain. It distracts me from my own.”

The attraction between Jacey and Dom is immediate, and watching Jacey trying to break through Dominic’s walls makes this journey incredible. She connects with him on such a deep level; she is not impressed by who he is or what he has to offer; she just sees the darkness in his eyes and wants to make it better. That is who she is. Dominic realizes that Jacey sees the real him, and he does everything in his power not to let her in. As much as Jacey tries to keep her feelings in check as they start a friends-with-benefits relationship, Jacey knows she is in trouble.

“Don’t love me… Or I’ll break you. I won’t want to, but it will happen.”

I have to give Courtney Cole props for this story. It is emotionally breathtaking and one that you will not want to miss. There is something so beautiful about seeing two damaged lost souls exorcising demons and watching as broken places are being filled with love and light in realistic ways. It is just fantastic. Ms. Cole has outdone herself this time, so do yourself a favor and pick up this book.

“The best things in life are worth the greatest risk. Falling in love is one of those things. Can it break out hearts? Yes. Most definitely. But more than not, before we fall, we fly.”

Such a great review, Kirsten! Thank you, as always!
